Things are heating up in the Sept PR office! Temperatures are rising fast in Dubai and the intense summer sunshine calls for effortless, easy dressing whilst still exuding amazing style. We decided to share some of our picks of the latest summer trends, from cute romantic, to tailored chic, to Ramadan covers ups, taking Dubai fashionistas from office meetings to beachfront sundowners.
If you are a lover of the pretty romantic trend, think Isabel Marant, Chloe and Dolce & Gabbana – floral print dresses, lace sleeve t-shirts, tailored cotton shorts and satin camis are must have items this summer; wear with strappy heels or sandles in earthy tones and a stylish tote to take you naturally from day to night.
Those wishing for a tailored desk to dinner look should channel Alexander Wang and Michael Kors, teaming our go to item – the cropped trouser with a silk shirt, or opting for a seamless shirt dress for smart-summer couture; add a bright colored court shoe and statement clutch and you’re ready to rock work and play.
Keep your cool and respect the traditions of the Holy Month of Ramadan with loose fitting trousers and beautiful blouses both on our agenda this July. Float with ease through the soaring heat with a relaxed yet glam kaftan, stick to cottons, silks and breathable materials to stay elegant, tasteful and cool in the summer sun.
Summer frills are an essential part of any outfit; whether you’re a fan of gold or silver it’s all in the details – pastel shade gemstones, design your own charm bracelets and chain link luxe will take any outfit from fun to fabulous.
We have chosen some of our summer favorites below… happy shopping!

“A woman can carry a bag but it’s the shoe that carries the woman – Christian Louboutin” A master in both words and all things shoes. We are true believers here in the office that the statement shoe is an ingenious item for any wardrobe and its showiness is exactly what makes it so versatile. A show stopper of a heel will turn an all-black, inconspicuous outfit into a paparazzi’s dream.
For those of you more daring and playful with fashion like myself then I highly recommend to go all out and wear them with a riot of colour and patterns, creating a total mish-mash. It’s all about having fun and let’s face it, if you have a pair of statement shoes on the are chances are you aren’t trying to hide under the radar so just go all out.
The brilliant news is that it’s not just about heels either – although there are never ending amounts of fabulous pairs. Fashionistas can swap their stilettos for far more practical pairs of slippers, sneakers, preppy mannish loafers and tough-girl boots but still look hot to trot.
It was a hard job but someone had to do it and I slaved away to bring you some of the hottest heels around this season.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and can pose a bit of a minefield when choosing a gift for that special man in your life. Men are notoriously hard to buy for and don’t always give much assistance with suggesting ideas for gifts. With this in mind, we spoke to the token male in the office and tasked him with cracking the code and coming up with a few ideas for what to get your man this Valentine’s Day:
Cleopatra’s Spa and Wellness in WAFI – I like to pretend that it is because I’m working in an office full of women and that their femininity has somehow rubbed off on me, but truth be told I’ve always loved spas! Even the most macho guy loves being pampered and what better way than indulging in a massage and a dip in a spa pool.
An ex-girlfriend of mine treated me to a day at Cleopatra’s spa in WIFI and it was amazing. I felt like Mark Anthony – the Shakespearean one not the Latin pop sensation / JLo’s ex-husband – and I didn’t want to leave. Check out the website for details and special Valentine’s Day offers.
MVMT watches – Buying a watch for a man can be tricky, as they vary immensely in style and size and reflect his personality. I personally don’t like chunky watches which weigh down the arm and look like they belong on the dash board of a spaceship, so these pieces from crowd-sourced initiative MVMT are ideal. They are simple, stylish and affordable and are shipped over from the US for free in a matter of days.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, they are offering a 10% discount on all purchases. Log on to www.mvmtwatches.com for details.
Givenchy Pour Homme Blue Label Aftershave – a bit of a cliché but aftershave is always a winner, as most guys will wear it every day (and some really should). I love Givenchy Pour Homme Blue Label, as girls have said I smell nice when I have worn it and that is the perfect barometer for me! I deviated from this recently and someone said I smelt like their dad, so I advise to stick with what you know!
Givenchy aftershave is available in most department stores and malls in Dubai.
DVDs – again a bit of a cliché, but us guys love a good TV series. Don’t tell anyone, but we are all partial to a bit of a download in Dubai, but what you don’t get with a download is all the fantastic special features loaded on as a bonus. From behind the scenes documentaries, deleted scenes and actor commentary, most box-sets are crammed with hours of interesting (for us anyway!) information.
There are some fantastic ones to choose from, but if you are looking for a timeless classic seek out Band of Brothers, which is basically Saving Private Ryan but across 10 episodes. For something more up to date get hold of Game of Thrones; one of the best shows on TV recently and packed full of interesting special features.
Virgin megastore located in malls across Dubai should be able to find you what you are looking for.
Phantom 2 Vision flying camera – My friend has recently purchased one of these which is basically a camera attached to a mini-helicopter and the pictures have been awesome. Capable of recording video and taking pictures up to an altitude of over 600 metres, the Phantom 2 Vision is packed full of special features including an in-built GPS so it flies back to a specific location if it goes out of range.

Hopefully this blog post has inspired you to find that perfect gift and we wish you a Valentine’s Day full of romance!
We do L.O.V.E. our Sunday nights at OKKU and this week we got to experience a luxurious and unique fashion showcase featuring pieces from the Spring / Summer 13 collection from the Herve Leger By Max Azria.
The Herve Leger fashion house was founded in 1985 by the French designer Hervé L. Leroux and is most famous for designing the “body conscious” or ‘bandage dresses” where stretchy fabric is used to give emphasis to a woman’s figure.
It was great to have the chance to view the collection and the edgy, bold designs really captured the modern, powerful woman of today. From light greys to sharp blues, graphic shapes to intricate weaves the pieces were absolutely stunning.
Along with the eye candy our taste buds were also treated to the tastiest Japanese delicacies from an award winning menu. We particularly enjoyed the Salmon Tartar and the Hamachi Tataki Maki and we were spoilt for choice with ‘O’ style cocktails!
We would like to thank everybody that came down for making it a wonderful evening!
Just recently the Matchesfashion.com team came to Middle East to get a taste of the region where a large number of their fans reside. Matches was founded by Tom and Ruth Chapman in 1984 and started as a luxury fashion store in London. Matches now operates 14 stores as well as having a huge international online presence showcasing pieces from some of the most iconic designers in the world from Alexander McQueen to YSL. It is safe to say that even after all this time, Matches still keeps the customer close to its heart
Over with the Matches team was the wonderful Natalie Kingham (a senior buyer for matchesfashion.com) as well as the talented Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos of Peter Pilotto. It was an extremely busy few days with a packed media schedule from photo shoots to interviews to even more interviews! In the end though, the hard work truly did pay off!
The Official Launch party for the Middle East was held at the elegant and fashionable Art Space Gallery in DIFC. Star guests Pete Pilotto and Christopher De Vos joined us on this wonderful evening and showed off some gorgeous pieces from their Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection.
The room was filled with luxuriously crafted signature Pilotto prints which guests enjoyed admiring whilst they eagerly waited for a photo opportunity with the design duo.
The atmosphere was buzzing, the beats were pumping and the Champagne was flowing. We went a little overboard with the canapés but apart from that it was an extremely enjoyable and successful evening!
Velvet and Silk
The key trends this Fall/Winter are definitely baroque, velvet and leather.
Golden details and rich fabrics are key if you want to channel the baroque look. Wear this trend for a night out as it might be a bit much during the day, unless you are planning on going to Fashion Week of course! The best brand out there doing baroque this season is Dolce and Gabanna.
Velvet this season doesn’t have to be associated with Gothic fashion, it’s for everybody. Velvet is feminine and soft and complements the baroque trend perfectly giving it an even more luxurious look.
Leather is always in fashion but just gets trendier each season. This Fall/Winter expect a lot of leather coats and skirts, and for the true fashionista why not try an all leather look mixing different types of leather?
UAE-based fashion designer Reema Al Banna recently launched her latest Fall 2012/13 collection at an exclusive ‘Compassion Show’ catwalk event at the RIVA Beach Club in Dubai. Guests included the who’s who of the Dubai social scene including fashion journalists and bloggers, photographers and VIP guests.
The stunning models wore designs featuring Reemami’s statement vibrant colors and bold patterns – the style which evokes the young, fresh and fun identity of the brand.
RIVA beach club provided a perfect chilled out and stylish location for the glamorous show which was held al fresco on the palm lined terrace area.
What’s more, Reema focused her fashion show event on helping raise awareness about the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, PCRF. The non-profit institution is a humanitarian and medical organization that helps treat sick and injured children in the Middle East who do not have access to the necessary and specialized care in their homelands.
After the fashion show guests had the chance to look at Reemami’s key designs up close as the models mingled with the invitees. It was great to see two completely different organizations work together and create an exciting and fun event, all in aid of a wonderful cause… Sept loves!
One trend that we adore this season is the lovely hues of pastels that are gracing both catwalk and Dubai’s Fashionistas. Taking inspiration from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Mulberry, soft pinks, lilacs, baby blues and mint greens are our must have colour fix of choice. Pretty, delicate and feminine with a nostalgic nod to our favourite things (like macaroons, ice cream and summer) we are wearing the colours from head to toe including nail varnish, denim capris, wedges, hair bows and tote bags.
